Issue 75

Editorial

By Ian Miller

For the last year I have been Chair of Christis — and this is the final issue which was produced whilst I’ve been on the committee which steers the direction of the magazine. During this time I’ve been complemented consistently on how the magazine has improved. “Another good Christis, Ian” is a refrain I have heard numerous times. The thing is, that I have had very little to do with producing the magazine. I feel guilty when people compliment me, as it is the rest of the committee, those that help with production, and of course those who write the articles that do the real work. Without them there really would be no Christis.

As chair all I really do is sign bits of paper and have some idea of what we need to discuss. I am fully aware that the production team sometimes work long hours to get the magazine looking good and finished on time, but sitting back from my position it does seem that the magazine just appears from nowhere. I feel that our success over the last year is no accident, but that God does work through us to help us in what we’re up to.

I know I am very guilty of only ‘turning’ to God when times are bad, and I feel that I need his help. Thinking about the what’s happened over the last year has shown me that God was present in all that we’ve done. He helped us when we had difficult decisions, steadied our faith when it was wandering, but most of all God was present at the good times. Hopefully, the new committee will remember this as they settle down to produce the next year’s worth of issues.

God be with you.
