Issue 74

Editorial

By Ian Miller

Welcome to the start of year special edition of Christis. If this is the first time you've seen a copy of Christis — please take this copy away and read it. Come and see us at the various Christian events happening in the next few weeks — and come and get involved in your University Christian Magazine.

For the rest of us, coming back to another year of study, keep the following words in mind as this year progresses ;-)

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, your last essay or your lab report; nor about your seminars, what you will put on. Is not life more than your degree and the degree more than marks? Look at the geese on the lake, for they neither read nor write nor meet with supervisors; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add to your marks? So why do you worry about essays? Consider the ducks around the lake, how they waddle: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even the Vice-Chancellor in all his wisdom could not waddle like one of these. Now if God so endows the ducks of the lake, which today is, and tomorrow is shot by estates, will He not much more ensure your success, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, “What mark shall I get?” or “What excuse can I use?” or “What time is the library open until?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble

(With apologies to Matthew 6:25–34)

God Bless,
Ian Miller
