Apologies to anyone else that we have left out of this list.
The more observant reader will have noticed one or two small changes this issue, but we feel that they are enormously important changes.
The first change is that we've given our ever-developing website the recognition it needs and bought a domain name. For those who are less technically minded, that means you can now find our WebPages at www.christis.org.uk. It will mean that more people throughout the world will use this excellent resource. You can now search through virtually every article ever written for Christis, find out about what we're doing, pick up some guidelines for articles and see those awful photos of the committee. Articles can now be submitted through submissions@christis.org.uk. Please visit the site and tell the webmasters (Max Spicer & Tom Saddington) what you think.
The other change is more subtle. You will notice that inside our front cover there is a list of other societies active here in York. For some time this has included two non-Christian societies, which a number of people were uncomfortable seeing in an undeniably Christian magazine. Last term we had a request for another group, the Pagan Society to join this list. After lengthy discussion in our open meetings, we decided that they should be added to the list, and that we'd use the opportunity to rearrange the inside cover slightly. The list has been split between those groups that self-define as Christian, and those that don't. This has been done to combat the misnomer that if all the groups were in one list they all represented a similar level of truth — we leave that for the reader to decide.
It is important for Christis to recognise other faiths as they do exist on campus and may well give interesting viewpoints on our own beliefs. If you do come from a non-Christian background I would encourage you to write for Christis.
As always, we'd like to see more articles on all kinds of subjects. This term you may have less time due to exam commitments but if you want to take a break from revising, write us an article!
God bless,
Ian Miller
