Letter(s) - Just the One
I'd like to congratulate you! The last two editions of Christis have done much to encourage lively and honest debate about Christianity in its broadest sense.
As many of you will know, I’m currently training for the Ordained Ministry in the Church of England. I shall always treasure the time I spent at York, and the involvement I had with Christis. If nothing else, it taught me that the body of Christ is colourful and diverse, something which should be celebrated.
However, I am also aware that some of the issues debated in previous editions of Christis may have caused a lot of pain and confusion for many of you. I know that it is in the nature of the Christian journey that we shall experience much in the way of soul searching, and we are often forced to face questions which we would rather not consider.
However, I do pray that through this we will spare a thought for the needs and sensitivities of each other. And that Christis should strive to build bridges rather than dam rivers.
It’s not always easy to realize that many of the ‘truths’ we cling to are always open to interpretation. Another’s ‘truth’ may be different to our own.
Realizing this is surely a step on the road to maturity, it is certainly a move towards an honest and open faith which endures.
My thoughts and prayers are always with you.
Love
